Rolando Bianchi is a professional football player who was born on February 15, 1983 in Albano Sant'Alessandro, Italy. To his friends and close ones he is known by his nickname “Rolandinho”.
He was named in the Under-21 team of Italy in 2003 and also figured in the squad for the 2006 U-21 Championships in Portugal. In this tournament, he won three caps for his national side and scored once. He has made a total of thirteen appearances for the U-21 national side and has scored seven goals.
In 2000, Rolando Bianchi began his professional football career as a centre-forward for the Italian football club Atalanta. A few years later, he was sent as a loan player to Serie B team Cagliari in January 2004, where he played 14 matches and scored two goals and helped his team move up to the Serie A level. Rolando Bianchi was signed by another Italian football club Reggina in 2005, and he made nine appearances and scored a goal for it in the 2005-06 season.
Rolando Bianchi had a prolific run in the 2006-07 season, where he played a total of thirty seven games and scored eighteen goals for the club that season. This impressive performance helped him finish fourth in the league's goal scoring table.
This feat got Rolando Bianchi offers from various football clubs in Europe but he opted for Manchester City. In July 2007, he signed a contract worth £8.8 million and was given the number ten shirt. He scored his first goal for the club in his debut match against West Ham United. He got his second one in the Carling Cup 2nd round fixture against Bristol City F.C., that his team won 2-1. He followed it up with a third goal in the game against Spurs and a few days later he also scored in the match against Bolton Wanderers, where they won 4-2.
On January 23, 2008 Rolando Bianchi went back to Italy as a loan player to Lazio. Ironically, his first goal for Lazio came against his former club Reggina, from a penalty kick in a 1-0 victory. In 2008, Rolando Bianchi moved to the Italian football club Torino after signing a five-year deal with it.
